Guided rodless cylinder with shock absorber
Time: 2009-03-02

When specifying Hepco's HPS Powerslide-2 guided rodless cylinder system, surprisingly few designers consider the inclusion of a shock absorber.

Whilst this addition increases the initial cost, the benefit it provides in performance terms far outweighs the investment.

System life can be doubled or even trebled and operating speeds increased to enhance productivity.

It is to provide machine builders with these advantages as standard that Hepco is now supplying HPS Powerslides and SH Shock Absorbers as ready-to-mount packages.

The HPS Powerslide-2 is available in 10 sizes and combines Hepco's proven slide technology with an extensive range of high quality, pneumatic rodless cylinders.

The result is a lightweight prime mover which can take loads in any direction and perform well in harsh environments; corrosion resistant components are optionally available.

The SH shock absorbers are the ideal complement to this linear guidance system.

They ensure that energy is dissipated at a uniform rate and that moving objects are brought to rest far faster than by other damping methods.

The cushioning that the new HPS/SH combination provides, effectively prevents any impact forces damaging the internal elements of the pneumatic cylinder and reduces wear on the guide system itself.

It also reduces stress on associated parts such as fixings, ensures quieter operation and lessens design and fabrication costs.

Furthermore, as well as generally extending system life, HPS/SH provides a cost-effective method of machine protection in case of control system failure.
